RAF Wittering Annual Formal Reception

On Wednesday, 4th September 2019, a contingent of staff and cadets from no 422 (Corby) Squadron were invited to support and attend the Annual Formal Reception at the Wing's parent unit, Royal Air Force Wittering.

The team were initially employed to guide local VIP guests and civic dignitaries to car parks and transport facilities.

At 1800 hrs, the Squadron redeployed to No 3 Mobile Catering Squadron where the main function was taking place.

At this point the contingent were invited to listen to an address given by the new Station Commander, Group Captain Jo Lincoln RAF, during which her speech included a special mention to our organisation, the Wing and a thank you to 422 Squadron for our support and presence.

Also present as a guest of honour was our very own Officer Commanding South and East Midlands Wing, Wing Commander Andy Pass RAFAC.

At 1830 hrs, all guests walked the short distance to the edge of the flightline, where the band of RAF Cranwell College performed, followed by a Sunset Ceremony.

The evening didn't stop there for the 422 Squadron team. Group Captain Lincoln made a special thank you to us all, then posed for photographs both formal and informal, where the Station Commander insisted on a 'mad photo' with the group, which she 'Tweeted' immediately!

Following the audience with the Group Captain, the team returned to the Warrant Officers' and Sergeants' Mess for a packed meal and 'goody bags' courtesy of the Station Warrant Officer, Warrant Officer Hywel Greening RAF.

Officer Commanding at 422 Squadron, Flight Lieutenant Paul Ferguson said "the team were given a first-class cadet experience by RAF Wittering and it's personnel yet again."

"It is a joy to work in support of the Station at most of the various events and formal occasions, representing our Wing and showing how grateful we all are, by benefiting from the parenting task."

The pictures show elements of the College band music and drill sequence.
